/Humanitarian food aid in Afghanistan
December 2022 – March 2023, Afghanistan
In Afghanistan, the humanitarian crisis of incredible proportions has become even more complex and severe since the Taliban took control in August 2021. Job losses, lack of cash and soaring prices are creating a new class of hungry people in Afghanistan. 18.9 million Afghans do not consume enough food. During the winter, food aid is a lifeline.
The project :
The Stand Speak Rise Up! emergency project aims to provide food aid to over 70 families to support them through the winter. The food baskets contain basic ingredients, heating and can feed a family for several weeks.
Most of these families were supported by women who are unable to provide for their families after losing their jobs due to the Taliban’s successive decrees suppressing women from public life.
